〈SOUTH2 WEST8〉と同じく北海道・札幌を拠点として、レザークラフトづくりに取り組んでいる〈amarillo（アマリージョ）〉。主に作品の素材として使われているのはエゾシカ革だ。ブランドを主宰する髙橋愛梨さんは、地元産のディアスキンに「編み」と「かがり」を駆使したハンドメイドの革細工を自ら製作している。過去には〈SOUTH2 WEST8〉ともコラボレーション作品を製作し、新たなファンを増やした。今シーズンは〈NEEDLES〉のためにフリンジバッグ、サコッシュ、ネックレスを製作。髙橋さんとの対話から、ものづくりの背景を紐解く。
Just like SOUTH2 WEST8, hand-crafted leather brand amarillo is based in Sapporo, Hokkaido. Mainly using local Yezo sika deerskin, the brand’s owner, Airi Takahashi, sticks to leather crafts made by her own hand with braiding and stitching techniques. After gaining new fans through past collaborations with SOUTH2 WEST8 and NEEDLES, amarillo has made a fringe bag, sacoche and necklace for this season’s NEEDLES collection. In this section, we unveil the background story of the brand’s creation through a conversation with Takahashi.
