清水慶三が語る〈NEEDLES〉

今シーズンは、ミュージカル映画の金字塔『ウエスト・サイド物語』がテーマ。これまで自身の服作りにおける映画からの影響をたびたび公言してきた清水慶三だが、特定の作品をテーマとして明確に打ち出したのは、今回のコレクションが初めてのこと。なぜ今、『ウエスト・サイド物語』にフォーカスしたのか、そしてシーズンの気分とは。２０２２年秋冬の 〈NEEDLES〉 について聞いた。
NEEDLES’ designer Keizo Shimizu talks about his fall/winter 2022 collection.
This season’s NEEDLES collection is themed on a musical drama masterpiece, West Side Story. Although Shimizu often says that movies have always influenced him and his clothing design, it is the first time for him to pick up one particular film work as the theme of his collection. What is the reason he chose West Side Story now? What is the mood of this season’s collection? We had an interview with him to learn more about NEEDLES’ fall/winter 2022 collection.
