With the “movies and fashion” theme in mind, the first character I think of is Jeffrey Lebowski aka “The Dude”, performed by Jeff Bridges, in The Big Lebowski. The Dude is middle aged and jobless, but he spends his days drinking White Russians, caressing Persian rugs, and bowling with his friends. He’s the stereotypical bum, but you can also feel a sense of elegance and invincibility. You can see this lifestyle he has established in his fashion choices too: A white V-neck with flannel shorts of quality, and he slips on a brown gown with a soft, relaxed silhouette over it. He’ll add on a pair of sunglasses and sandals to visit the neighborhood supermarket. Although this was years before oversized clothes became a popular style, the selection of each item, the undisturbed vibe, and every other element, is shockingly cool to this day. No matter how the world changes, I would like to live faithful to my own unwavering sense of aesthetics, just like The Dude; I think of this every time I rewatch The Big Lebowski.
