〈RCMF〉 で今、 オリジナルの釣り具を作っていまして。 一つが、 このバスロッド。 まだ試作段階なんですが、 軽くて柔らかめで初心者でも扱いやすいと思います。 彼氏が真剣に釣りをしている横で、付き添いで来た彼女がこの竿を使ってみたら、 そっちの方が全然釣れちゃった、 みたいな。 そんなコンセプトです （笑）。
This bass rod is one of the new fishing gears I’m designing for RCMF. It’s still a prototype, but perfect for beginners. My concept is a girl goes fishing with her serious angler boyfriend,but she catches more fish than him with this rod (laughs).

『ダウンタウンのガキの使いやあらへんで !!』 で恒例だった 「チキチキ芸能人釣り選手権 」 の優勝トロフィー。 芸能人が釣ったブラックバスのサイズを競い合う企画で、 俺は1995年から2009年まで年一回のペースで開催されたすべての大会に出場しました （笑）。 たしか、 通算で3回か4回くらい優勝したんじゃないかな。
I got this trophy when I won a bass fishing competition organized by a TV program. The competition was held annually from 1995 to 2009 and I participated in all of them (laughs). I think I won three or four times.

バス釣りにハマった理由は、 道具を買うのが楽しいということも大きかったかも。 男っていくつになっても新しい道具で遊びたがるじゃないですか（笑）。 ギターとかと一緒ですね。 リールだけでたぶん100個くらい持っているんじゃないかな。 実際に使わなくても、 こうやってクルクル回しているだけで楽しいですよね。
I enjoy buying new fishing tools and I think that’s one of the reasons I became obsessed with fishing. Men always want to get new gadgets to play with (laughs). I think I’ve got about 100 reels.

これも現在制作中の 〈RCMF〉 のオリジナルルアー。 HIDEUPさんの 「N-GREEDIE」 という人気のルアーを、 RCMRのマスコットキャラクター 「ヘロ・ディギン」 のカラーリングでペイントした別注モデルです。 割と真面目に考えたちゃんと釣れそうなやつとふざけたやつが2パターンずつあって、 近々受注販売する予定。
It’s a new lure I made also for RCMF’s new collection. We painted HIDEUP’s famous N-GREEDIE lure in the signature colors of our brand’s mascot Helo Diggin’. It’ll soon be available in a made-to-order basis.

Professional bass angler Katsutaka Imae once used my song for his fishing movie. Then gifted me this custom rod.

1996年にテレビの企画でメキシコへバス釣りに行ったんです。 このロッドは、 そのときに夢の10ポンドオーバーを達成した思い出の品。
I traveled to Mexico for fishing as a part of a TV program. There with this rod, I caught a bass over 10 lbs.

4種類作ったオリジナルルアーのうち、 個人的に一番好きなのが、 この上のやつ。 魚と目が合って冷や汗をかいているヘロさんです。
I made four different designs and my favorite is the one with Mr. Helo panicking when he meets eyes with fish.

この二つは、 ちゃんと釣れるやつも作ろうと思って考えたものです。 片方にはメキシカンプロレス風のマスクをかぶせてみました。
I tried to make lure that can be used for actual fishing. One of them is designed with a Lucha Libre-type mask.

ボール状の錘にゴムの毛が生えたラバージグをよく使います。 このワームも自分でデザインして、 HIDEUPさんに作ってもらいました。
My favorite jigs are with ball-shaped heads and rubber skirts. I asked HIDEUP to make these two worms I designed.

10年くらい前に琵琶湖で一番デカいバスを釣ったときに使っていたワーム。 形状が独特で、 かなりトリッキーな動きをするんですよね。
The biggest bass I’ve ever fished was caught with this worm. With a unique shape, it makes a tricky move.

こっちのワームは、 メキシコで10ポンドオーバーのバスを釣ったやつ。 現地で同行してくれたゲーリーヤマモトさんから頂いたものです。
With this worm I caught a bass over 10 lbs in Mexico. Gary Yamamoto gave it to me as he traveled around with us.

I’ve been using this bait reel for years. But it’s hardly my favorite. I just brought it because it caught my attention (laughs).

I’ve designed mainly clothes for RCMF since the launch in 2016. This was made in 2020, and in 13 different colors.

I’ve also designed many parkas for the brand. This one with Mr. Helo printed on the chest was made in 2020.

This parka is the latest model released this spring featuring a big worm-shaped submarine on the back.

これが琵琶湖で釣った一番デカいバス。 サイズは64cm。 もしかしたらメキシコで釣った10ポンドオーバーのやつよりもデカかったかも。
This is the biggest bass I’ve ever fished. 64cm long and probably bigger than the one I got in Mexico.

この写真も琵琶湖で撮影したものですね。 昔はツアーの移動日とかに時間があると、 よく琵琶湖に立ち寄ってバス釣りをしていました。
This photo is taken at Lake Biwa. I used to go there for fishing when I got some spare time in between gigs.

海釣りもたまにします。 これは瀬戸内海で、 手に持っている魚はトラハゼ。 海釣りには広島に帰ったときに行くことが多いです。

2000年に 『ダウンタウンのガキの使いやあらへんで !!』 の 「チキチキ芸能人釣り選手権」で、 念願の初優勝を果たしたときの写真です。
This was taken when I won the fishing competition held by a TV program for the first time in 2000.

記録は32cm。 この大会では普段釣りをまったくしないダウンタウンの二人に負けることも多くて、 優勝するまでに6年かかりました。
The bass I caught at that time was 32cm long. It took me six years to win this competition.

- バス釣りが好きな理由？ なんでですかね……、 釣れないからかな（笑）。やっぱり生き物が相手だから、全然思い通りにならないんですよ。どれだけ長い時間やっても、釣れないときはまったくダメ。だから面白いんだと思います。うまく行かないから、ずっと飽きないというか。あと、たとえ肝心の魚が釣れなくても、狙ったポイントにビシッとルアーを投げられたとか、そんなちょっとしたことに喜びがあるんですよね。釣りを始めたのは小学生の頃で、漫画の『釣りキチ三平』がきっかけでした。瀬戸内海が近かったこともあるし、当時はまだブラックバスなんて存在自体知らなかったから、最初は海釣りでしたね。岸からの投げ釣りでハゼとかカレイとかアイナメとかを狙っていました。バス釣りを始めたのは1993年です。その前から興味はあったんですが、ちょうどユニコーンが解散して暇だったもので（笑）。翌年にソロ活動を始めてからの最初の数年間と2010年頃が、特にハマってました。泊まりがけで琵琶湖にも遠征してましたね。ルアーメーカーのHIDEUPさんとも仲良くなって、2016年には〈ラーメンカレーミュージックフィッシング（ RCMF ）〉というコラボブランドを立ち上げて、いろいろとオリジナルのグッズも作っています。ただ、最近は暇がありそうでなくて、なかなか釣りに行けないので、もっぱらYouTubeで釣りの動画を見ている感じです。まあ、それだけでも十分楽しいんですけど（笑）。長くやってるとは言っても、これまでにちゃんとやってきた釣りって海での投げ釣りとバス釣りくらいで、そんなにいろんな種類の釣りをしてきたわけではないんですよ。でも、世の中には磯釣りとか、ヘラブナ釣りとか、フライフィッシングとか、テンカラとか、他にもいろいろあるわけじゃないですか。たとえば、鮎も友釣りだけじゃなくて、今はルアーで釣るのが流行っているみたいだし。そういうまだ経験したことのない釣りを、いつかはやってみたいです。
- Why do I like bass fishing? I don’t know… maybe because I rarely land one (laughs)? When you are dealing with living things, things never turn out the way you expected. Sometimes you just can’t get anything no matter how long you wait. But that’s what is fun about fishing. You never get tired of doing it because it doesn’t go well all the time. And, while angling, you may find joy in small things such as being able to cast a lure super accurately, even though you can’t catch any fish. I started fishing when I was in elementary school. Living by the sea and not knowing about bass at all, I did sea fishing back then. I started bass fishing in 1993, though I’d had an interest in it before then. It was right after my band Unicorn broke up and I just had nothing to do (laughs). I was seriously into it around the time when I began my solo career in the following year and around 2010. I even went on overnight fishing trips to Lake Biwa. After getting to know HIDEUP, a Japanese lure manufacturer, we jointly launched a brand, Ramen Curry Music Fishing (RCMF), in 2016 to make collab stuff. I currently don’t have enough time to go angling and mostly watch fishing videos on YouTube. It’s still enjoyable, though (laughs). My angling history is fairly long, but sea fishing and bass fishing are just what I’ve experienced so far. There are many types of fishing such as surf fishing, crucian carp fishing, fly fishing and Tenkara fishing. I’ve also heard that catching sweetfish with a lure has been trending. I want to try some of them one day.
