唯一無二の存在感で日本各地にファンを増やしているブランド〈KEBOZ〉が、この春、デザイナー・川村健一氏の故郷である旭川に満を持して凱旋。4店舗目の直営店にして系列ショップの中で最大規模を誇る店内では、川村氏のインスピレーション源である“野球”をテーマにした最新プロダクトのほか、〈NEEDLES〉トラック・シリーズの別注モデルや北海道日本ハムファイターズとのコラボアイテムなどを扱う。また、同じビルの1階にはオリジナルのクラフトビール「ケボズビール」が楽しめる「居酒屋旭一」、さらに3階には昭和のレトロな空間を再現した会員制のスナック「球宴」も同時オープン。なお、2023年秋冬シーズンには〈KEBOZ〉による〈SOUTH2 WEST8〉の別注アイテムも発売予定。こちらも乞うご期待。
Gaining more and more attention from across Japan, one-of-a-kind fashion brand KEBOZ eventually open a shop this spring in Asahikawa, the hometown of the designer, Kenichi Kawamura. It is their 4th brand-operated store and becomes the biggest in size. There you can find the brand’s latest products themed on baseball, the inspiration source of designer Kawamura, as well as the exclusive model of NEEDLES’ track suit and a series of items made in collaboration with the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters. There is even an Izakaya bar, Kyokuichi, at the 1st floor to serve their original craft beer named KEBOZ beer. At the 3rd floor, members-only bar Kyuen was newly opened at the same time. Note that some exclusive collab pieces between KEBOZ and SOUTH2 WEST8 will be available there in the Fall / Winter 2023 season.

暗闇に浮かぶ三角屋根の建物と木彫りの看板。木々に囲まれた洋館のような佇まいが目印の「居酒屋りしり」は、NEPENTHESチームが愛する東川の社交場。魅力は、なんといってもメニューの豊富さ。海鮮系から肉料理、串焼きや煮物まで、あらゆる気分を満たしてくれる多彩なグランドメニューに加え、北海道ならではの旬の食材を使った料理もズラリ。その日の釣行を振り返りながら、稚内や網走で獲れた新鮮な海の幸を肴に一献傾ける時間は、まさに至福のひととき。
Izakaya Rishiri is famous for its old Western-style building surrounded by trees. Only the triangular roof and wooden signboard of the restaurant can be seen in the dark at night. The NEPENTHES team loves to visit this watering place in Higashikawa, because of their wide range of menu from seafood to meaty dishes to grilled skewers to simmered food. Along with various regular dishes that can satisfy any demands of customers, there are many other options made with Hokkaido’s seasonal fresh ingredients. Nothing can be better than a cup of sake paired with fresh seafood dishes, while looking back the result of the day’s fishing.

旭川の旅に欠かせないものといえば、北海道三大ラーメンのひとつ、旭川ラーメン。魚介類と豚骨&鶏ガラで出汁を取ったダブルスープ仕立ての醤油味が定番スタイルだが、旭川では珍しく背脂たっぷりの京都ラーメンで勝負する「まよさわ」が、NEPENTHESチームの今一番のお気に入り。目を引くのは、常連客のほとんどが肉増しで注文する、美しく盛られた自家製の薄切りチャーシュー。脂身の状態や質感によってスライサーで切るときに微妙に厚みを変えるそうで、運が良ければ少量しか取れない中トロのような部位を提供してもらえることも。“名古屋めし”として有名な「台湾まぜそば」や「台湾ラーメン」も絶品。
Asahikawa ramen is one of the top 3 ramens in Hokkaido and what you should try during your Asahikawa trip. The NEPENTHES team’s current favorite is Mayosawa, a restaurant known for its Kyoto-style ramen made with pork backfat broth though it is rare in Asahikawa where a soy sauce-based mixed broth of seafood, pork and chicken bones is more popular for ramen. The way they garnish slices of their char-siu pork on the top is just beautiful, and most of their regulars ask for additional slices. The thickness of each slice is slightly changed depending on the quality and texture of the fatty parts. If you are lucky enough, they would top your ramen with super tender char-siu that is hardly available. Their Taiwanese soup-less noodle and Taiwanese ramen are also worth trying.

釣りで疲れた身体をホテルの風呂で癒し、ぽかぽかの状態で旭川の街をふらり散策。昭和25年創業の「ぎんねこ」は、そんなある夜、「素通りは許しませんぞ」と書かれた看板に引き寄せられて出会った、お気に入りの焼鳥専門店。こちらのお店は、まず串のフルコースから始めるのがお決まり。レバー、きんかん、かしわなど部位ごとに異なる味わいを堪能したら、旭川のソウルフードとして知られる看板メニューの新子焼きを追加で注文。伊達産の新鮮な若鳥の半身をそのまま炭火で焼き上げる豪快な一品は、創業以来継ぎ足してきた秘伝のタレと見事な焼きの塩梅が旨さの決め手。一度食べたら最後、もう素通りするなんて無理だ。
Opened in 1960, this long-standing izakaya bar moved its location to in front of SOUTH2 WEST8 last year. There you can enjoy a number of delicious dishes full of seasonal ingredients mainly from Hokkaido on a L-shaped cedar bar table that they have used for 62 years. Their specialties, thoroughly charbroiled hokke fish and chicken thighs, are crispy on the skins but juicy inside to bring out the full flavor of the ingredients. The NEPENTHES team loves both of the dishes, along with super fresh assorted sashimi of the day and Japanese omelet that is as sweet as the owner. Every single dish they serve goes with sake, so it is hard not to drink a lot.

北海道中央部に連なる十勝岳連峰の中腹に建ち、サウナ好きの間では「北の聖地」とも呼ばれる温泉施設。セルフロウリュもできるヒバ造りのサウナ室でじっくりと汗をかいた後は、十勝岳の湧水を使用したキンキンの水風呂にドボン。そこからが白銀荘のスペシャルタイム。標高約1000mの立地だからこそ味わえる雄大な景観を眺めながらの外気浴は、都会では絶対に体験できない極上の時間だ。積雪シーズンであれば、全サウナー憧れの雪ダイブも可能。
This hot spring facility is located on the halfway up the Tokachi mountain range in the central Hokkaido, and known as ‘the premium place in the north’ among sauna lovers. After getting sweat in their sauna made of Hiba wood, dive into an ice-cold bath filled with Tokachi spring water for cooling down. But you still do not fully enjoy the Hakugin-so. Never forget to take a fresh air bath, while enjoying the majestic view from the altitude of 1,000 meters. You cannot experience such a precious time in a city area. During snowy seasons, you can even dive into snow after sauna.

釣りに行く前の朝ごはんは、釣果を左右する大切な時間。NEPENTHESチームの指名率1位は、旭川のご当地グルメ「げそ丼」発祥のお店である老舗立ち喰いそば屋「天勇」。入店すると食欲をそそるかつお出汁の芳醇な香り。食券機の前では他のメニューに浮気心が働きながらも、選ぶのはいつもかけ蕎麦とげそ丼のセット。濃いめのつゆに歯切れのよい麺。ぷりぷり食感のげそ天を甘辛いタレが染みたご飯とかっこめば、エネルギーチャージ完了!
It is essential to have decent breakfast before fishing. The NEPENTHES team’s favorite breakfast restaurant is Tenyu, a well-established soba stand known as the place where Asahikawa’s local food Geso-don (a fried squid leg rice bowl) was first served. The savory smell of bonito broth from the restaurant whets your appetite as soon as you enter there. Though all the dishes on their meal ticket machine look delicious, the team always end up ordering a combo meal of Kake-soba and Geso-don. The strong-flavored broth perfectly matches al dente soba noodles, and the plump squid legs taste great with rice soaked in sweet-salty sauce. Just gobble them up and boost your energy for a fishing adventure!

釣行時のランチのあとは、無性に甘い物が食べたくなる。それが暖かい日なら、決まって車を走らせるのが「パティスリーフゥ!!」。ケーキや焼き菓子が人気のお店だが、NEPENTHESチームのお目当ては、ぽってりとしたフォルムが印象的な自家製ソフトクリーム。数あるフレーバーの中でもおすすめは、北海道といえば!のミルクソフト。まるで牛乳を飲んでいるかのような濃厚なミルクの風味が感じられるのに、フワッと軽い口どけで、後味はスッキリ。
After a fishing trip, we always get a craving for something sweet. Our favorite place to go on a warm day is Pâtisserie Fou!! Their signatures are cakes and baked goods, but what we go for is their homemade chubby soft-serves. Among a variety of flavors they offer, we do recommend to try ‘Milk,’ one of the most famous Hokkaido specialties. You may feel as if you are drinking actual milk as you taste this rich ice cream, while it melts smoothly in your mouth with a rather refreshing aftertaste.

日本における風景写真の第一人者であり、美瑛・上富良野一帯の美しい景観を全国に知らしめた写真家・前田真三氏の写真館。廃校となった小学校の体育館を改築したギャラリースペースには、氏がライフワークとして取り組んできた「丘」の連作を主として展示。ヨーロッパの農村風景にも似た、なだらかな丘に広がる色彩鮮やかな四季折々の風情が楽しめる。また、10,000 坪に及ぶ広大な敷地内には白樺の回廊やラベンダー畑などがあり、撮影スポットとしても一年を通して来館者が絶えない。
Known as the pioneer of Japan’s landscape photography, photographer Shinzo Maeda conveyed the beautiful sceneries of the Biei and Kamifurano districts across the country. This gallery space is located in a former elementary school building to exhibit his serial works titled ‘Hill’ to which he devoted his life. Each piece captures a landscape with rolling hills in seasonal colors, and reminds us of a rural farm in Europe. Set in about 33,000 square meters of land, the gallery has some scenic places within the grounds such as a white birch walkway and lavender fields that attract many tourists throughout the year.
