- Following Osaka and Tokyo, Hakata is now going to have a women’s specialty store. What will NEPENTHES WOMAN HAKATA be like?
- The concept of NEPENTHES WOMAN is to portray an iconic female figure through the worldview of NEPENTHES and broaden that idea. Since our beginning at Osaka in 2020, we passed through Tokyo, the center of fashion, and finally have arrived in Fukuoka. NEPENTHES HAKATA has already been supported by the local community for 10 years, but we are looking forward to the opening of NEPENTHES WOMAN HAKATA, as we have never had the opportunity to offer a full lineup of our items for women. We will continue to deepen our relationship with our customers and provide excitement by offering special items and exclusive models selected from all over the world, without being bound by the genre or era.

- What is your impression of Fukuoka?
- I have an image that fashion trends start at the same time as Tokyo. I am from Osaka, and since my youth I have felt like the trends arrive to Osaka after it has already buzzed in Tokyo and Fukuoka. When the stretchy, ultra-skinny jeans were all the rage, I saw the girls in Fukuoka and thought “I need those!”, and simultaneously found out about the French brand PICCADILLY that has swept Japan back then. It has been almost 30 years since (laughs). I heard that Fukuoka has always had a thriving history of international trade and a large capacity to accept other cultures, which makes a lot of sense to me. As a city with a perceptive and fast-paced sense of fashion, I am hopeful that they would find joy in our view of the world, and we will be waiting with open arms.
- Please tell us about the main brands that you are focusing on developing at NEPENTHES WOMAN.
- This Fall/Winter is a season that will completely shift our consciousness, which has been forced to turn “inward” for the past several years, to “outward” and expand our opportunities to go out to glamorous events, travel, live performances and theater, which we have been away from for a long time. With this timing in mind, we would like to welcome our customers with items that will lift their spirits, with color combinations and unique textile designs that plays to NEPENTHES’ forte.

- First up is RHODOLIRION. The theme this season is “Punk Romantica”. The source of inspiration is the punk princesses of various eras who colored the global cultural scene. Romantic, sophisticated feminine style and a punkish, masculine style with a hint of darkness. The perilous balance created by interweaving these two contradictory elements is elegance itself!

- And steadily gaining female fans around the world, NEEDLES also has a lineup reminiscent of the rock culture of London in the 1980s. From the clothes emanate the seduction of music, and leaves you intoxicated. With many new items introduced this season, it can be enjoyed through styles that transcends gender.

- ENGINEERED GARMENTS devoted their theme to the outdoors style. Their visual imageries for this season are impressive with heavy fabrics and strong layering, but what caught my attention is the Varsity Jacket, which had the exemplar stadium jacket finish. This authentic item of ruggedness and American craftsmanship is sure to become the pillar for your stylings.
